Is NOCTA Still Popular in 2026

If I’m being honest, NOCTA came in 2020 in much the same style that Drake does, and the web went crazy before the first hoodie even arrived. It was “uniforms for the nocturnal” from Drake and Nike, the two names on earth’s bankestables. Cute tagline. Big promise. However, after about five years, the question isn’t really “did NOCTA have a moment?”, it did. Well, is NOCTA still popular, or is it a little bit of a celebrity closet where no one is dying to have the next shirt or t-shirt anymore? Pick up your oversized fleece and let’s get dirty.

A Quick History Lesson (For the Newbies)

NOCTA began in late 2020 as a Nike-affiliated brand of shoes for Drake, but it took more than just putting a logo on a t-shirt. Everything from the entire pitch was sportswear meets streetwear, all around Drake’s late night, studio-to-street concept. Consider soft pastel tones, performance materials, and clothing that seemed at home on a sports star whose passion for GRAMMYs is obvious.

It logically seemed to be right. Drake was already getting his OVO brand to sell in the streetwear market, but his Jordan brand collaborations (the Air Jordan 10 OVO and the Air Jordan 12 OVO, anyone) showed he knows how to shift sneakers. It was only natural that NOCTA would follow, a full fledged sub-label rather than occasional colour drops.

How NOCTA Grew Up

NOCTA hasn’t rested on its laurels since that initial launch. Then there was the undeniably hilarious Hot Ones collaboration which felt like a good move into the realm of fandom and not just another hoodie project. Then, it was a barrage of Nike drops, running silhouettes, golf gear (yes, golf), basketball inspired garments, and the ever-popular Cardinal Stock line, one of NOCTA’s most consistent and popular lines.

For 2026, just one year, NOCTA brought back Cardinal Stock in Spring and Summer with new “Washed” colorways and, in particular, an exclusive Butterfly Fleece piece that collectors were really happy about. But there has also been a moment that is football flavored, as NOCTA has created a pre-match capsule for the Canada Soccer Association for the World Cup 2026, alongside Patta and PEACEMINUSONE. It’s a good cosign in the streetwear/sport realm, not a vanity project.

So, Is NOCTA Still Popular in 2026?

Yes, but the temperature has shifted! In 2020 and 2021, NOCTA drops were the type that crashed SNKRS servers, and got people online with three tabs to SNKRS.In 2020 and 2021, NOCTA drops made people camp out with 3 browser tabs open, and broke the SNKRS servers. That much mayhem has been quelled. But is NOCTA going to be popular enough to sell out quickly? There are certain pieces that do, however, such as collab shoes and limited capsule collections such as World Cup footwear. The daily Cardinal Stock fundamentals, however? They stay on shelves a bit longer than they used to, which is a good sign that the frenzy has cooled off and become more regular, less feral.

Opinions of the streetwear world are split down the middle. Others believe that NOCTA has become a respectable sportswear brand that isn’t reliant on Drake’s name to generate sales. Others believe that it’s riding the coattails of the brand recognition it gained years ago and hasn’t done anything to reignite that initial spark.

The Drake Factor, and Yeah, We Have to Talk About It

NOCTA is all about Drake, and it was no quiet 2024 or 2025. For the longest time, the Kendrick Lamar feud was at the center of headlines, playlists and group chats and it had Drake’s public image in a hat that went far beyond the music. If your brand is literally named after your creative process at night and your face is the whole marketing campaign, you are seen as a brand.

Has that negatively impacted NOCTA sales? This is something that’s hard to say, but one could argue whether or not NOCTA is still a true style statement or whether people are purchasing it to get Drake or because of him. That’s a highly different sort of popularity, and it’s on fragile territory to base long-term brand loyalty upon.

NOCTA vs. The Celebrity Streetwear Field

It’s worth noting that while the trajectory of Yeezy has certainly imploded with Kanye’s controversies ripping up the partnership with adidas altogether, NOCTA hasn’t fallen as hard as that, so at least it’s not a bad sign. Comparing to Humanrace, line of Pharrell, and NOCTA, it’s moreso prolific, more consistently in the streetwear conversation, but it doesn’t have the same cachet of clean, wellness-adjacent effect that Humanrace has.

Corteiz, for instance, makes NOCTA seem a tad corporate. Scarcity, guerrilla marketing and independence from big sportswear machines helped to create Corteiz’s real grassroots buzz and makes it street cred worthy. For better or worse, NOCTA will likely never be as scrappy as it was for this little company that runs on a shoestring, and supported by the massive infrastructure of Nike.

Who’s Actually Wearing NOCTA Now

NOCTA’s cool kid days are a little over. In 2026, you’ll find yourself with NOCTA in an entirely different pool of people, from anyone who wears a pair of Nike sneakers now and again to sneakerheads desiring something a little more unique from the Jordan brand, and to, of course, many Drake fans who can’t pass up anything with his name on it. It’s become more mainstream, it’s a double-edged sword: bigger reach, less exclusivity cachet.

What About Resale Value?

The truth comes out quickly with resale. Limited capsule collections and standout footwear still offer a great value on sites such as StockX or GOAT, particularly those that relate to a cultural phenomenon such as the World Cup capsule. However, general Cardinal stock clothes don’t have the after-market valuation that it had before. It’s a pretty obvious indication that the hype has come down and is more viable but not as explosive.

The itismandystyle Verdict

Take it from Mandy, NOCTA isn’t gone, and it’s not going away, but it’s certainly not the same hype machine it was back in 2020. Does NOCTA still have a following these days? Yes in a mature steady-seller way of doing it not a riot-inducing way. It’s made a permanent place for itself with regular offerings such as the Cardinal Stock and some savvy cultural moments such as the World Cup capsule. But it’s still heavily reliant on Drake’s name and if his reputation is in the shambles, that’s a risk the brand can’t entirely shake off. If you enjoy the fits, you’ll want to wear these. But don’t be surprised if it’s not the cultural lightning rod it once was.
